Independence police investigate shooting near busy intersection

Independence police investigated a shooting Thursday that injured at least one person.

The shooting was reported by several witnesses shortly after 6 p.m. in the parking lot of a gas station near 23rd Street and Crysler Avenue. Police believed two vehicles involved in the incident left the scene before officers arrived.

Police found evidence of the shooting and later found a 19-year-old man who suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. He was transported to a hospital.

Police distributed photos of the vehicles involved in the shooting and sought to identify the occupants. The incident occurred near busy intersection and police hoped more witnesses would come forward.
