Former CEO is sentenced to two years for embezzlement
A federal judge in Kansas City on Wednesday sentenced the former chief executive officer of a local company to two years in prison for embezzling more than $338,000 from the firm.
James A. Kilkenny, 50, admitted in April that he stole the money from Waechtersbach USA Inc., in part, to make up for a salary cut he took in 2006. That year his pay went from $135,000 a year to $115,000 because of companywide cutbacks.
The next year, Kilkenny began overpaying himself without the company’s knowledge, prosecutors said.
