Arrest made in Merriam 7-Eleven holdup, shooting

Merriam police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a convenience store clerk during a robbery early Wednesday.

Police said they expect the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office to file criminal charges later Thursday.

A robber entered the 7-Eleven in the 6800 block of Antioch Road about 2 a.m. Wednesday, pointed a shotgun at the clerk and demanded money. Moments later, the robber shot the clerk.

The clerk was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
