Police identify Kansas City man killed on porch

Police on Monday identified a man fatally shot on a home’s front porch early Sunday as Justin J. Butler, 28, of Kansas City.

A second man on the porch was wounded during an apparent shootout involving someone in the street and people on the porch about 6:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of East Park Avenue.

The wounded man was taken to a hospital, along with a juvenile who sustained a gunshot injury to the hand. A second child and woman at the home were not injured.

Authorities had visited the residence just before 3 a.m. Sunday in regard to an arson report. Someone had set the front porch on fire.
