Checkpoint on Southwest Trafficway yields 29 DUI arrests
A sobriety checkpoint late Friday and early Saturday in Kansas City resulted in 29 drivers being arrested for driving under the influence.
Law enforcement officers stopped 950 vehicles at the checkpoint at 39th Terrace and Southwest Trafficway between 11 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday. It was conducted by Kansas City police, the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
One driver was apprehended for hit-and-run and 29 were cited for attempting to avoid the stop.
Other totals included 14 hazardous moving violations, three fugitives arrested, eight for no insurance, four for driving while licenses suspended or revoked, and one for resisting arrest.
