KC police continue to investigate decomposed body found in Blue River

Police do not know how long it will take to determine the cause of death for a person whose badly decomposed body was found Tuesday in south Kansas City.

A passer-by notified police about 2:30 p.m. after spotting the body on a large log in the middle of the Blue River near 85th Street and Hickman Mills Road. It appeared the body had washed up on the log, police said.

Investigators were unable to determine the person’s race or sex.
