Olathe sex offender faces new charges
An Olathe man with a history of sex crime convictions has been arrested again on a charge of sexual battery.
Michael Martin Sanchez, who is listed on the Kansas sex offender registry for prior convictions, is accused of improperly touching a person Friday at an Olathe business.
Sanchez, 38, is also charged with lewd and lascivious behavior for an incident in June in which he allegedly exposed himself.
According to Johnson County District Court records, Sanchez has three prior convictions for sexual battery, most recently in 2014. He was charged with sexual battery in a fourth case but pleaded guilty to an amended charge of battery, the records show.
He is on probation in the 2014 case, and prosecutors have filed a motion to have his probation revoked. In the motion filed last month, prosecutors said Sanchez had failed to complete court-ordered sex offender treatment.
“Mr. Sanchez has been discharged from sex offender treatment as his risk has been assessed as too high to remain safely in the community,” according to the motion.
