A Liberty man was sentenced to nearly 16 years in federal prison Thursday after previously pleading guilty to several child pornography charges.

Trevor Teegarden, 35, pleaded guilty to producing, receiving and possessing child pornography on Jan. 29, 2026, according to a news release from Candice Jamioles, a public affairs specialist for United States Attorney R. Matthew Price.

On Thursday, Teegarden was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison without parole, Jamioles said. He will serve 15 years of supervised release following his sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender.

According to a federal plea agreement document, Teegarden messaged an undercover FBI employee, whom he believed was a 14-year-old girl, on a dating application.

He sent the undercover agent “explicit communications,” and offered to meet the agent at a residence in Kansas City, the plea document said. Teegarden also requested a nude image from the agent.

Law enforcement officials found additional child pornography during a search of Teegarden’s residence on Dec. 12, 2024, according to the plea document.
