Johnson County jury finds Olathe man guilty of child sex crimes, including rape

A jury found a 44-year-old Olathe man guilty Wednesday of more than a dozen child sex crimes, including rape, according to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office.

Jurors convicted Jacob Artist Fontes of 13 charges, including rape, sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Prosecutors alleged the crimes occurred in December 2024 and January 2025, and the victim was between the ages of 14 and 16 years old.

Court documents show prosecutors accused Fontes of rape a victim incapable of giving consent because of the effect of alcohol, drugs, or other substances.; aggravated criminal sodomy of a victim incapable of giving consent, three counts of indecent liberties with a child; child misconduct; three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and four counts of criminal sodomy,

Fontes remains in Johnson County jail. Fontes is scheduled for sentencing at 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 10 in the Johnson County District Court.
