JoCo man found guilty of murder in connection with 134 mph fatal crash in Overland Park
A Johnson County jury has found Isaiah Charles Wallace Sadowski guilty of reckless second-degree murder in connection with a 2021 crash that killed an Overland Park woman.
The crash occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 27 as Sadowski sped southbound along Quivira Road and ran a red light at 127th Street, slamming into a Nissan Versa driven by Barbara Patterson of Overland Park.
Patterson, 75, was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.
According to court records, Sadowski who was 20 at the time, was driving drunk and speeding at 134 mph right before he ran the red light.
Investigators determined Sadowski’s blood alcohol content was 0.13 the night of the crash. His car and cellphone app data showed he was speeding nearly triple the speed limit seconds before the crash.
After he was charged and posted bond, Sadowski fled the country in 2024. He was arrested in Mexico in August 2025 and brought back to the United States. He appeared in a YouTube video in June 2024 while he was on the run.
No sentencing date has been set, the Johnson County District Attorney’s office said Thursday in a press release.
