Two days after a woman was found dead in a north Kansas City residence, Kansas City police have opened a homicide investigation.

Officers with the Kansas City Police Department were called to a residence in the 3800 block of North Briarcliff Drive just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday upon reports of a dead body, Sgt. Phillip DiMartino, a spokesperson for the department, said in a news release Thursday.

There, investigators found a woman with “apparent bodily trauma,” DiMartino said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, a medical examiner ruled the woman’s death a homicide, DiMartino said.

“This case is now being investigated as a homicide, and no one is in custody at this point,” DiMartino said. “Detectives are working to determine what led up to the incident.”

Anyone with information regarding the woman’s death is asked to call KCPD homicide detectives at 816-234-5043, or the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
