Fugitive found dead after standoff in KCK
A man who barricaded himself in a Kansas City, Kan., house after he exchanged shots with U.S. marshals was found dead inside early Thursday.
Kansas City, Kan., police said the incident began about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday when marshals went to a home in the 2200 block of Elizabeth Avenue seeking a suspect wanted on a fugitive warrant.
There, after talking to other people to confirm the identity of the wanted man, shots were fired and police set up a perimeter around the residence.
After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the man, police tactical officers entered the home and found the man dead from a gunshot wound inside a closet, according to police.
The man’s name has not been released and police are continuing to investigate.
