Overland Park police are investigating a possible homicide after a woman was found dead at a residence in the city’s Essex Place neighborhood Saturday.

Officers responded around 1:15 p.m. to the area of West 102nd Street and Grandview Drive after a caller reported finding a woman dead inside a home. When officers arrived, they found the woman dead, according to a news release.

It’s unclear how the woman died and police did not immediately release details about the extent of any injuries.

The results of an autopsy conducted by a Johnson County medical examiner Monday led investigators to believe her death may have been a homicide, police said in a news release.

Police identified the woman who died as Jennifer M. Thomas, 44, of Overland Park.

Investigators identified a suspect in the case, 45-year-old Sinai Magos-Olvera. According to police, Magos-Olvera was in a relationship with Thomas.

Police said they do not believe there is an ongoing danger to the public.

Anyone with information about Thomas’ death or Magos-Olvera’s whereabouts are urged to contact the police department at 913-344-8750 or the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
