A 25-year-old Raytown man has been arrested and charged in the shooting Monday evening of another man in front of a Raytown home.

Michael D. Monroe-Davis was arrested Tuesday in Kansas City and is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Prosecutors accuse Monroe-Davis of shooting a 23-year-old man during an argument at a home in the 9400 block of East 82nd Street. Witnesses told police that the two men were fighting before Monroe-Davis pulled out a handgun, shot the victim in the chest and drove away.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Police arrested Monroe-Davis at a house in Kansas City on Tuesday.

In an earlier case, Monroe-Davis pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in 2010.
