Shot fired after van burglary interrupted outside Overland Park business

Fleeing suspects fired a shot at two men who caught them breaking into a work van Wednesday morning in Overland Park.

No one was injured, and the suspects fled in a gray sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima, with a Kansas license plate, according to Overland Park police.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. Wednesday outside a Home Depot store in the 8000 block of West 135th St.

Two men told police that when they walked out of the store they found a man inside their work van. A physical altercation ensued, and a second suspect intervened. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired at the victims as they fled, police said.
