Kansas City man sentenced to 20 years in fatal 2022 gas station shooting
A 23-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in the fatal shooting at a gas station in 2022, according to court documents.
Jerpree Williams pleaded guilty last week in Jackson County Circuit Court to one count of voluntary manslaughter and one count of armed criminal action in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Andreone Hall on May 17, 2022, at a gas station at 3319 Linwood Boulevard, according to court documents.
Judge John G. Gromowsky sentenced Williams to 15 years in prison on the manslaughter charge and 5 years on the armed criminal action charge. Gromowsky ordered the sentences to run consecutively, for a total prison term of 20 years.
Williams previously had been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
According to court documents, officers were in the area of Linwood and Indiana Avenue when they heard the sound of shots being fired around 7:10 p.m. on May 17, 2022. They responded to the gas station, where they found Hall on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance video allegedly showed Williams and another man arrive at the gas station and go inside. Hall then arrived and walked up to a window outside the gas station.
Williams then exited and allegedly pointed a firearm at Hall, who started to run. Prosecutors said Williams then started to shoot, pulled another gun from the car he arrived in and shot in Hall’s direction again. Prosecutors said Hall was unarmed.
