Florida fugitive wanted for crimes against children captured in Gladstone
A U.S. Marshals task force on Friday arrested a Florida fugitive in Gladstone who was wanted for crimes against children, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Deputy U.S. Marshals, along with task force officers from the Kansas City Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrested Lance Long at a home near Northwest 67th Terrace and North Baltimore Avenue.
Long is accused of harmful explicit communication to a minor and using a two-way communication device to help commit a felony in Leon County, Florida, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The arrest was carried out by the Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force–Kansas City Division, which includes members of local law enforcement agencies. The task force focuses on seeking out and arresting fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug offenses, sex offenders and other serious felonies. It also helps track down missing children.
