Man dies after shooting outside Kansas City convenience store
One man is dead after he was shot ouside a Kansas City convenience store Saturday evening.
Officers were called around 5:30 p.m. to the 8200 block of Troost Avenue on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they were directed to a convenience store where they located a man suffering from an unknown head trauma, according to Sgt. Phillip DiMartino, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.
Officers began performing lifesaving measures until medics responded to the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after, according to DiMartino. Later, detectives were told by the hospital that the victim suffered a gunshot wound.
Investigators processed the scene for physical evidence, reviewed surveillance footage and searched for witnesses. Homicide detectives have taken over the case and are following up on all leads.
This marks Kansas City’s 10th homicide this year, compared to 18 this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star which includes police shootings.
