Former Tonganoxie man convicted of over a dozen child sex crimes

A jury found a former Tonganoxie man guilty of child sex crimes in Leavenworth County Court on Tuesday.

David Espinoza, 44, was found guilty of 12 counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and four counts of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child, according to a press release from Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office spokesperson Micah Bray.

The jury was unable to reach a verdict on three additional counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of rape, Bray said.

The victim reported that she had been sexually abused by Espinoza on May 1, 2023, Bray said. They told officials the abuse spanned “several years,” and occurred at several locations in Leavenworth County.

Espinoza is set to appear for a sentencing hearing in Leavenworth County Court on March 13, according to court documents.
