Pedestrian crossing Kansas City street critically injured in hit-and-run crash

Police are looking for the driver who fled from a crash that critically injured a pedestrian Tuesday evening in Kansas City’s East Meyer 6 neighborhood, a police spokesman said.

The crash occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of East 75th Street and The Paseo, said Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

Two officers with the Kansas City Police Department's Metro Patrol Division in a marked patrol vehicle were stopped at a red light at the intersection and saw the pedestrian crossing The Paseo from west to east.

A vehicle heading south on The Paseo then struck the pedestrian and fled without stopping, Becchina said. The officers rendered medical aid to the pedestrian, who was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. A description of the vehicle involved in the crash was not available.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
