Former De Soto school district employee sentenced for having sex with student
A former employee of Unified School District 232 in De Soto was sentenced to three years of probation Wednesday after pleading guilty to having sexual relations with a student.
Kassidy Alexander will serve three years of probation on one count of unlawful sexual relations with a student aged 16 or older, according to a press release from the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office. If the woman violates the terms of her probation, she will serve 34 months in prison.
Alexander will also be required to register as a sex offender, the press release said.
Two other counts of unlawful sexual relations were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, according to a Johnson County court document.
An archived version of the Lexington Trails website from Feb. 22, 2024, listed Alexander as a paraprofessional for the district.
In May 2024, administrators with the school district were made aware of “an allegation of an inappropriate relationship” between an employee at Lexington Trails Middle School and a high school student, according to a previous statement from the district.
The district suspended Alexander “to protect and care for those involved,” according to the statement. Alexander resigned “immediately” following her suspension.
