One dead in fatal shooting at North Kansas City CVS Pharmacy

North Kansas City police are investigating a shooting at a local drugstore that left one person dead Thursday.

Officers responded to a CVS at 1914 Swift St. at 3 p.m. Thursday after reports of a shooting, according to a news release from North Kansas City Deputy City Administrator Kim Nakahodo.

There, officers located a person “who had sustained fatal injuries,” Nakahodo said.

A suspect was taken into custody at the scene, Nakahodo said, and there is “no ongoing threat to the community.”

It’s unclear what led to the shooting. Police continue to investigate the incident, Nakahodo said.
