Two shot during funeral in Kansas City

Two people were shot outside a funeral home Saturday afternoon, abruptly ending the funeral of a man who had been killed in shootout last month.

Kansas City police were called to the 2800 block of East 18th St. at about 12:30 p.m. Witnesses said they were standing outside the funeral parlor when at least one person began shooting at the group before getting into a vehicle and fleeing.

A woman in her 20s was shot in the hand and a man in his 20s was shot in the ankle. Both were treated at a hospital.

The shooting interrupted the funeral of Raymond Jones, 28, who was one of two men killed in a July 30 shootout in the 4000 block of College Avenue.

Police said they had no description of any suspects in Saturday’s shooting. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
