Shawnee police searching for man accused in stabbing incident at barbecue spot

Shawnee police officers are searching for a man accused of stabbing another man inside a local business.

The Shawnee Police Department responded to Hayward’s Pit Bar B Que around 1:30 p.m. on reports of a physical disturbance, according to a Facebook post from the department.

A man allegedly stabbed another man inside a business, according to the post. The victim was taken to an area hospital and remains in stable condition.

The suspect ran south from the scene, according to the post. He is a white man with long black hair, wearing black clothing.

Officers are searching the area near West 79th Street and Nieman Road and are asking people to avoid the area, according to the post.

If residents spot the suspect, they should not approach him, according to the post. If residents recognize the man, they are asked to call 911 or the Shawnee Police Department at 913-631-2150.
