Carjacking in Kansas City leads to wreck and shooting
A man sustained several gunshot wounds to his arm in a carjacking and shooting late Thursday in northeast Kansas City.
Police were sent to the intersection of Truman Road and Indiana Avenue on a shooting call.
Officers arrived and found two vehicles facing westbound on Truman Road. Both vehicles had significant damage.
Officers learned that a carjacking had happened earlier at a soccer field at Ninth Street and Van Brunt Boulevard. Two vehicles at that location followed a Dodge Ram pickup vehicle that had just been stolen, according to an initial police report.
Another vehicle struck the two pursuing cars at Truman Road, ending their pursuit of the stolen pickup. The shooting occurred after the pursuing vehicles crashed. The stolen truck kept going westbound onto Interstate 70 before officers arrived.
The victim was treated at a nearby hospital.
No arrests have been made and police continued their investigation on Friday.
