Platte County prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday to upgrade involuntary manslaughter charges to murder charges in the case against two men accused of killing three men at a home outside of Kansas City’s Northland in 2024.

Jordan R. Willis and Ivory J. Carson each face two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the 2024 overdose deaths of Ricky Johnson, 38, David Harrington, 37, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, according to Platte County court documents.

Prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday to upgrade each of the pair’s involuntary manslaughter charges to second-degree murder charges, according to court filings.

Additionally, prosecutors seek to amend the dates of Carson’s distribution count to include a drug distribution transaction, alleged to have occurred one month before the deaths, according to court filings.

Johnson, Harrington and McGeeney went to watch a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers at Willis’ home in the Northland on Jan. 7, 2024.

The three men’s bodies were discovered two days later, after McGeeney’s fiancee broke into the home after becoming concerned about her fiance, and found a body in the back porch area.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two other men dead in the backyard.

On Jan. 12, 2024, a forensics investigation ruled the three men had died of “fentanyl and cocaine toxicity,” according to court documents. Investigators found two bags containing cocaine and fentanyl inside the residence.

A witness told investigators that on Jan. 7, 2024, they had been at Harrington’s house for the football game, according to court documents. Allegedly, Willis supplied a plate of cocaine that everyone used.

Before the witness left, the group planned to meet at Willis’ home after the game, according to court documents. The witness said Carson usually supplied cocaine.

Investigators later determined there was a significant amount of Willis’ DNA on the bag of cocaine and a significant amount of Carson’s DNA on the bag of fentanyl, according to court documents.

Text messages between the men were “consistent with the purchasing and use of cocaine,” according to court documents. The messages allegedly show Carson as the main supplier of the cocaine.

In interviews with Carson in July 2024 and February 2025, police said Carson allegedly admitted to selling cocaine by the gram to the men, according to court records.

In a statement issued on Willis’ behalf in March 2024, the man’s lawyer claimed Willis knew nothing about the men’s deaths.

Ivory Carson is set to appear for a hearing on June 27, according to court documents. No further court dates are currently set for Willis.
