New Zealand investigation leads to child porn sentence for KC man
A New Zealand police officer’s investigation led to a Kansas City man who on Wednesday was sentenced to 10 years in prison for distributing child pornography over the Internet.
Chad Michael Rein, 27, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, where he pleaded guilty earlier this year.
In 2012, a detective in New Zealand traced the source of some online child pornography back to Rein’s computer and contacted U.S. officials, according to prosecutors.
A search warrant was served at Rein’s house and investigators discovered numerous images of child pornography on a computer and hard drive.
Some of the images depicted rape scenes between adults and infants, prosecutors said.
