Guilty plea in beating of dog in Overland Park that was caught on video
An Overland Park teenager caught on video beating a dog with a belt has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.
Juantez M. Howard, 18, was charged last year after a neighbor took cell phone video of the animal being struck numerous times.
On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to the felony charge and was ordered into custody.
According to court records, he will be required to serve 16 days in jail and then be released to a county work release facility pending sentencing on Oct. 8.
