Suspect in homicide near University of Kansas Hospital in KCK waives extradition
A Kansas City, Kan., homicide suspect arrested Thursday after a police standoff in Kansas City waived his right to fight extradition during a brief court hearing Friday.
Willie E. Parker is charged in Wyandotte County District Court with first-degree murder in the July 28 shooting death of Michel Ziade.
Ziade, 54, of Lee’s Summit, owned a medical transport company. Parker, 46, worked for him.
The shooting occurred in a parking lot near the University of Kansas Hospital in the 3900 block of Rainbow Boulevard.
Parker was arrested Thursday in the 2700 block of Highland Avenue after a five-hour standoff with police and FBI tactical squads.
He appeared Friday morning before a Jackson County judge and agreed not to fight extradition. He was taken to Wyandotte County later Friday and was being held in the county detention center.
