Kansas City police investigate double shooting in apartment complex

Kansas City police investigated a double shooting Wednesday night at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of East 96th Place.

Police had been called to an apartment about 7 p.m. and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital, where one died, according to police. The other man was in surgery Wednesday night.

The death was the city’s second homicide on Wednesday. Detectives also investigated a shooting death near U.S. 71 and Missouri 150.

No other details were immediately available.
