Person escapes gunfire in road rage incident with bikers in Prairie Village, police say
Two suspects are in the hospital after a crash following an alleged road rage incident with gunfire in Prairie Village Tuesday, police said.
Officers with the Prairie Village Police Department responded just before 8:30 p.m. to the 1900 block of West 75th Street. A preliminary investigation shows that a motorist stopped at a red light when two suspects pulled next to them on a motorcycle, a news release said.
One of the suspects allegedly opened the victim’s driver’s side door, but the victim was able to pull the door shut and drive west on West 75th Street.
One suspect then allegedly fired several shots at the victim as they drove away. The suspects fled east on West 75th Street into Missouri, a news release said, where they were involved in a crash. Officers with the Kansas City Police Department apprehended the suspects.
Both suspects were taken to a hospital and will be held in custody after their treatment to be charged, a news release said.
Police had previously investigated the incident as an attempted armed carjacking. After further investigation, it was determined the shooting is attributed to a road rage incident, police said in a news release.
The suspects remain in custody and there is no threat to the public at this time, police said.
