Police investigate man shot during robbery outside Kansas City school

A man was wounded in the leg during an armed robbery early Tuesday outside a school in southeast Kansas City.

According to a police report, two men were hanging out and drinking beer about 2:10 a.m. near 63rd Street and Swope Parkway, outside the African Centered College Preparatory Academy, when two other men approached and ordered them to lie on the ground.

The robbers took the victim’s cellphone and wallet. As they fled, one robber shot the victim in the leg. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening injury. His condition was not available.

No arrests had been made Tuesday morning.
