Woman kidnapped, raped during robbery and carjacking in Kansas City, North
Clay County authorities on Tuesday charged a 29-year-old man in the kidnapping and rape of a woman during a robbery and carjacking in Kansas City, North.
Scott A. Hamm of Kansas City, North, faces multiple criminal charges that include sodomy, kidnapping, rape, robbery and armed criminal action.
Court records say that the victim and a male friend, both 24, were talking in the Target parking lot in the 4300 block of Chouteau Parkway about 11:30 p.m. Monday when Hamm approached them and asked for a light. The two said they didn’t smoke and Hamm walked away.
Hamm then showed a silver handgun and said, “This is a carjacking.”
He ordered the man to hand over his car keys, wallet and cellphone. Hamm then pointed the gun at the woman and told her to get into the driver’s seat of her car.
When the friend tried to get into the passenger seat, the gunman told him to get away from the car. The gunman got into the passenger seat behind the woman and told her to drive away.
The male victim alerted police.
Hamm later ordered the victim to pull into the parking lot of a day care center in the 3700 block of North Jackson Avenue.
Hamm told the victim he had just gotten out of jail for attempted murder. He then ordered the woman to remove her clothes and get into the back seat with him. Hamm then assaulted the woman.
Police found the woman’s vehicle in the day care center parking lot.
Hamm told the woman to get into the driver’s seat and drive away. The woman opened the driver’s door and ran naked toward the officers.
Police quickly arrested Hamm.
