Pedestrian critically injured after being struck, dragged by hit-and-run driver in KC
A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after being struck and dragged by a hit-and-run driver Thursday evening in Kansas City, a police spokeswoman said.
The pedestrian was hit about 7:40 p.m. Thursday near 18th Street and Indiana Avenue along the border of the Washington-Wheatley and 18th & Vine and Downtown East neighborhoods, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez with the Kansas City Police Department.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was possibly crossing 18th Street when a driver of the vehicle struck and dragged the person, Gonzalez said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition Friday morning.
Gonzalez said that the driver was possibly headed west on 18th Street or making a left turn from southbound Indiana onto westbound 18th at the time of the crash.
A description of the vehicle was not available. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
