Man surrenders to police after crashing vehicle into south Kansas City church

A 20-year-old man surrendered to police early Monday after he allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle into the side of a south Kansas City church.

The incident happened about midnight in the 11700 block of Holiday Drive. Police say the suspect stole the vehicle then struck a second vehicle before crashing the stolen vehicle through the front wall of the Word of Life Church, causing significant structural damage.

The man fled but later returned and surrendered to police.

No other details were immediately available.
