Pedestrian critically injured when struck by car while crossing Kansas City street
A pedestrian was in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing Prospect Avenue in a Kansas City neighborhood, a police spokeswoman said.
The pedestrian was crossing Prospect from east to west at East 40th Street shortly before 8 p.m., said Officer Alayna Gonzalez with the Kansas City Police Department. The area of the crash is on the border of Kansas City’s Ivanhoe Southeast and the Oak Park Southwest neighborhoods.
A gray Ford Focus that was headed south on Prospect struck the pedestrian in the southbound lane, Gonzalez said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with injuries that were believed to be life-threatening.
The driver and passenger of the Focus were not injured in the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, Gonzalez said.
