Police investigate shooting Friday morning at Kansas City hospital

A shooting at University Health hospital in Kansas City injured a person Friday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the hospital at 2301 Holmes Street after a report of an “active shooter,” according to a written statement from Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

Police described the injuries as not being life-threatening.

In the statement, released about 9:25 a.m., DiMartino said the area was safe and there was no active threat at that time.
