Police investigate shooting in Lenexa after disturbance reported, door kicked in

A man is hospitalized after he was shot in the chest early Thursday in Lenexa, according to police.

Officers reported to a disturbance around 9:50 a.m. where someone allegedly kicked in a front door in the 13500 block of West 90th Place, the Lenexa Police Department posted at 10 a.m. on X.

The call was later upgraded to a shooting.

The man was trying to get into the residence when he was shot in the chest, police said. He was transported to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Everyone involved in the incident knew each other and lived at the residence, police said.

Detectives are interviewing a male suspect and female witness and aren’t looking for other persons of interest.

Police aren’t sure why the 911 callers reported an attempted break-in when the victim appeared to live at the residence, police said.
