Kansas City police were investigating after a gunshot victim was found at the site of a crash in the North Indian Mound neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were initially dispatched to the area of St. John and Lawn avenues on an injury crash, Sgt. Jake Becchina, a department spokesman, said in an email.

The gunshot victim was located there by responding officers and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Becchina said. Others were injured in the crash but were not believed to be as seriously hurt, Becchina said.

Few details were immediately available Wednesday afternoon, Becchina said, including the exact sequence of events.
