Clay County deputies are investigating a homicide after a worker found a man’s body in a Clay County park near Excelsior Springs, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said.

The victim has not yet been identified, Sarah Boyd with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in an email Friday afternoon.

He appears to be a white or Hispanic man between the ages of 35 and 45 years old, and has a tattoo of a bull on his upper left arm. Evidence indicates the body was placed at the location recently, Boyd said in the email.

The Clay County Parks and Recreation employee discovered the body around 8:15 Friday morning at Rock Hollow Park, which is located at 14812 Old Quarry Road, northwest of Excelsior Springs.

The county park, which once was a quarry, has a small fishing lake for non-motorized boats, picnic tables and a picnic shelter, according to the county’s website. The park is open from dawn to dusk.

Authorities ask anyone who has any information about this case to call investigators at 816-407-3723 or the TIPS Hotline.
