Northland student reports being approached by stranger

A Lakeview Middle School student in the Park Hill School District told authorities he was approached and offered a ride by a stranger Tuesday while walking from the school bus stop.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. at Missouri 9 and Riverchase Lane in Parkville. The man told the student that he had a puppy in a car. When the boy declined, the man drove away. Parkville police are investigating the incident and have increased patrols in the area.

School district officials alerted parents and posted an item about the incident on the district website.

The driver was described as a white, heavyset male with gray hair driving a purple or blue van or SUV.
