Update: Around 1:45 a.m., officers made entrance into a restaurant where the suspect was barricaded and took them into custody without incident.

Police were investigating a robbery and kidnapping Thursday night after a 1-year-old girl was reported abducted during a carjacking in Kansas City, triggering an Amber Alert.

The child, identified by police as Kemaya Hill, was found safe late Thursday in Lee’s Summit about 15 minutes after the Amber Alert was issued. Police had said the child was in the backseat of a white Saturn SUV when it was stolen around 8 p.m. from 47th Street and Flora Avenue in Kansas City.

The SUV was later spotted in Independence near 42nd Street and Noland Road, according to police.

Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for Kansas City police, said the vehicle and child were located around 10 p.m. at Interstate 470 and Woods Chappel Road in Lee’s Summit. He added that police were in a standoff with a suspect sought in the investigation.

The suspect, who was not identified, was determined by Lee’s Summit police to be the subject of a reported disturbance inside a restaurant.

As of Thursday night, the suspect was barricaded inside the business. She was armed with a knife, Becchina said, and was believed to be alone.
