Kansas City motorist shot several times near zoo
A wounded Kansas City motorist drove to a hospital late Sunday after someone fired several gunshots into his vehicle while a 10-month-old sat in the backseat.
Bullets missed the child but the driver was struck several times in the hand and leg, according to an initial police report.
The victim told investigators he was driving west on 63rd Street at Zoo Drive about 9:30 p.m. when a red Ford Taurus pulled alongside and someone inside began shooting. The wounded motorist drove to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police recovered a firearm with blood on it across the street from the hospital. The victim told police that the firearm belonged to him.
