Pedestrian critically injured after being dragged in hit-and-run crash in Kansas City
A pedestrian was in critical condition at a hospital after being hit and dragged by a SUV in a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening in Kansas City, a police spokeswoman said.
Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate a crash that critically injured the pedestrian in the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue in the East Community Team South neighborhood of Kansas City, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.
A preliminary investigation determined that a dark colored SUV heading north on Jackson struck the pedestrian, who was walking in the street, and dragged the person an unspecified distance, Gonzalez said.
After the pedestrian became dislodged, the driver continued north on Jackson in the SUV without stopping, she said.
The pedestrian, who suffered critical injuries, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
