Checkpoint results in charges of assault on law enforcement officers
An overnight sobriety checkpoint in south Kansas City netted 13 drunk driving arrests, four for narcotics and one high-speed pursuit that resulted in eight counts of assault on law enforcement officers.
A total of 380 cars were stopped at the checkpoint conducted by Kansas City police and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office from 11 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday at 59th Terrace and Ward Parkway.
Other arrests included hindering and careless driving. Officers recovered one firearm.
