Person seriously injured in shooting in parking lot of a Lee’s Summit apartment complex

One person was seriously injured in an overnight shooting in the parking lot of a Lee’s Summit apartment complex, a police spokeswoman said Thursday.

Officers responded to the shooting about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Strasbourg Apartments near 1 NW. O’Brien Road, said Sgt. Carmen Spaeth with the Lee’s Summit Police Department.

Arriving officers found a male victim who had been shot. The victim, whose age has not been released, was taken to a hospital, Spaeth said.

A preliminary investigation determined that two people approached the victim in the parking lot and they got into an altercation. A shot was fired, striking the victim, she said.

The two others fled. It is now known if the victim new the people who had approached him, Spaeth said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
