A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a minivan on a Kansas City highway Tuesday night.

Police responded to a 911 call from the Honda Odyssey minivan driver on westbound Interstate 70, just west of 27th Street, according to a Kansas City Police Department press release.

The pedestrian was crossing the highway as the minivan was switching lanes to enter the interstate when the person was hit and tossed into the window shield of the car, according to police.

The driver pulled the person off the road and called the police.

The driver sustained no injuries during the collision. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
