Young girl injured by gunfire while in Kansas City home Sunday night, police say

A Kansas City girl was taken to the hospital Sunday night for a gunshot wound after bullets were fired into her home near 64th Street and The Paseo, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the reported shooting shortly before 10 p.m., according to a written statement from the Kansas City Police Department. A 911 caller told police they were inside the home when gunshots entered the building from outside.

The child, identified by police as a female under 10 years old, was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police had no suspect information. Detectives were investigating the shooting as an aggravated assault Monday.
