A pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run collision early Wednesday in Kansas City, according to police.

Officers responded around 12:50 a.m. to the area of Linwood and Benton boulevards, where the person was struck, said Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

An unknown white vehicle traveling at a high speed struck the pedestrian while they were crossing Linwood just east of Benton.

The vehicle didn’t stop and continued west on Linwood, Becchina said.

Officials took the pedestrian to a hospital with critical injuries.
