The body of a man was found in Wyandotte County Lake in Kansas City, Kansas, on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s department.

Around 2 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of a dead person in the water, Capt. Michael Kroening said in a statement Monday night. The body was pulled from the water and identified as a Black man believed to be in his 20s.

Police were investigating what caused his death on Monday. Police said the identity of the man was being withheld as next-of-kin notifications had yet to be made.

The sheriff’s department was asking anyone with information about the investigation to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
